Notes and Updates

PLEASE make sure your crews know 12 LEADS strips MUST BE LABELED AND PLACED ON PROGRESS NOTES NOT (OR JUST PLAIN PAPER) or they will be tossed!  We do need them for patient records but without a name and DOB on it we can not "guess" who they belong to.
 Thanks, Deb

EMS District # 5 Use of Paramedic Resource:

Paramedic intercepts may be a useful resource for EMT-I and EMT-B crew offering ALS care in a variety of clinical situations:

Chest Pain, Shortness of Breath, Major Trauma, Pain Control, Anaphylaxis, Cardiac or Respiratory Arrest, Advanced Airway Management, Seriously ill Pediatric patients

Given that adult medical patients can be difficult to evaluate, if grossly abnormal vital signs are obtained in a patient:

1)      Pulse greater than 140 or less than 40

2)      Blood pressure less than 100 systolic

3)      Respiratory rate greater than 30 or less than 10

4)      Oxygen saturation less than 88%

EMT-I or EMT-B level crews should consider involving paramedics in the care of these patients, given the response time and distance to the Emergency Room.
